In the book "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" the main character is a young boy named Bruno. One day Bruno goes exploring and walks up to a chained link fence. The chain linked fence help hundreds of Jewish people during the holocaust. Bruno at the young age did not know why the people where in there. One day Bruno meets another young boy on the other side of the fence. The two boys started to talk to each other and get to know one another. one day the boy on the other side of the fence said he lost his dad and asked Bruno if he would help find him. Bruno thought at this moment "So what" i will help him. The to young boys went searching for the boys dad when suddenly they were ordered to march into a small room. "My dad is head commander so this must be okay," said Bruno. "Do we stay in here for long?" said Bruno. "I do not think so," said shmuel. The young boys were then gassed to death. Some times in modern day you might think "So what" and that might not always be the best decision. The key idea is to not always think "So what" and just go with it.

After WW2 was over many Jewish people faced lots of big problems. One very big problem was discrimination. Discrimination connects to current day USA because of other races than white people get heavily bullied. With other races facing discrimination it connects to the Jewish people facing discrimination during the Holocaust. In the book im reading The boy in the striped pajamas, the main characters family had to move to a new house in the suburbs for his fathers job. His fathers job was a Nazi soldier. The family acquired a new house helper. He was a Jewish man. Many Nazi soldiers would call him slain and boss him around. That scene is also related to current day USA.
In the book "The Boy In the Striped Pajamas" there are several connections to the Holocaust. The main character Bruno had to relocate to a new home because of his fathers new job. One day Bruno was out wondering, and walks up to a chain linked fence. On the other side there was a young boy. Bruno at the young age of nine did not know why the boy was on the other side. Little did Bruno know that the boy was in a concentration camp during the holocaust.
The concentration camps are a part of the holocaust. Hitler created the concentration camps during the holocaust. Bruno's father works for Hitler at one of the camps. On this website it tells you more information about the concentration camps during the holocaust. https://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10005144 Most people in Germany at this time did not care about all of the concentration camps and killing of Jewish people because they were all looking for an escape got to get out of the great depression. some other events that took place during this book were ww2, concentration camps and Hitler and Stalin becoming partners. By:Simon Flythe & Goma Mauricla INTRO We are trying to help out the homeless people in wake county and we can do this if we help donate by giving food cans and etc. In Wake county there are lots of homeless people roaming the streets, especially in the city. In wake county alone there around 1,098 homeless people. This website shows lots of good information about how many people are homeless around North Carolina. 0.12% of wake county's population is homeless. http://demography.cpc.unc.edu/2013/10/24/homelessness-in-north-carolina Issue We should help these homeless people because they have a huge effect on our daily lives and economy. We often have to pay high taxes to pay these because when homeless people get here or sick and go to the hospital, and they have no money to pay for their bill. If we volunteer to help them then we will not have to use our tax money to pay for them. This website shows you how to help. http://raleighpublicrecord.org/news/http://raleighpublicrecord.org/news/2015/06/22/wake-county-sees-nearly-25-decline-in-homeless-population/2015/06/22/wake-county-sees-nearly-25-decline-in-homeless-population/ Facts & How to Help In Wake County, 1,116 people were counted in a one-day survey of homelessness in January 2012. Over the course of a year more than 4,000 different individuals experience homelessness in Wake County. Most people in our community find themselves homeless because they are priced out of the housing market http://www.wakegov.com/humanservices/housing/services/Pages/homelessness.aspx. This issue affects most of wake county because that's a lot of people being homeless. This is a big issue because many people are struggling to find a home they can afford. Also if the prices of houses begins to rise then more and more people will not be able to afford a home and the homelessness rate will increase. Our goal is to help volunteer to help the homeless. A way we can do that is by help with shelters. You can do this at the Salvation Army. https://www.salvationarmycarolinas.org/wakecounty/programs/social-ministries/women-and-childrens Why Help Homelessness has been a big part of our community for a while. This issue affects people can not afford the stuff we need to live on a regular basis. These people can not find homes to leave in and also they can not afford to leave in the apartments and pay the rent. We should find more affordable homes for people that can afford them. If we keep increasing the cost on homes then more and more people will start going homeless and that would be a big problem. There is still need for some help because the rate of homeless people is rising and we need as many volunteers to come help out as we can. Poverty and poor in North Carolina
Poverty has been increasing slowly in North Carolina over the past years. In Winston-Salem, Greensboro-High Point, Raleigh, and Charlotte have all came into the top 10 most poor city's in the nation. We can help the poor and people in poverty by setting up food, donating finance, clothes food and etc. We can all help put in community problems by building shelters. By helping these people in need we will gain more interest in our city/state which increases revenue for us . There are 32 coal ash impounds in North Carolina. These impounds have caused environmental pollution and health issues for year. Duke Energy has closed 8 coal ash impounds recently. The state Department of Environmental Quality is working to close down more impounds. We can help stop these impounds by protesting to the government. If we close down all of the impounds then we can reduce health risks and save our environment.
